What is endometriosis?

Excision of endometriosis
The surgeon uses laparoscopic surgery to insert a small video camera through an incision in the abdomen. This minimally invasive technique allows the surgeon to see inside the body while removing — or excising — areas of endometriosis.
Laparoscopic surgery is also used to diagnose endometriosis, often during the same procedure.
Hysterectomy
Hysterectomy, the complete removal of the uterus, can relieve pain caused by severe cases of endometriosis. Your doctor will talk with you about long-term side effects of hysterectomy so you can decide if it’s the right choice for you.
We offer minimally invasive laparoscopic hysterectomy, which isn’t available at every hospital in the region. This surgery allows the surgeon to see inside the abdomen with a tiny video camera inserted through a small incision. This technique allows the surgeon to remove the uterus with smaller incisions and has a shorter recovery time than a traditional hysterectomy.
