About

Dr. Justin F. Fraser is the director of cerebrovascular surgery in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UK HealthCare, where he specializes in cerebrovascular, endovascular, skull base and endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery. He focuses on treating stroke, carotid stenosis, intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformation, pituitary tumors and other skull base tumors. Fraser routinely performs acute stroke interventions and led UK in its certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Fraser graduated from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. In his thesis, he discussed the American healthcare system and focused on the effect of managed care on the physician-patient relationship.

He earned his medical degree from the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he also completed his residency in neurological surgery and a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery/interventional neuroradiology.

Fraser’s academic research focuses on the further advancement of neuroprotective therapies for acute ischemic stroke. He has been the principal investigator on several investigator-initiated clinical studies (e.g., SAVER-I, STABILISER), as well as a site principal investigator for multiple industry-led clinical trials (e.g., PREMIER, FEAT).

He is involved in professional societies in neurosurgery and stroke intervention at multiple levels.

Personal Statement

Stroke is a tremendous health problem, especially in the Bluegrass. My goal is to ensure the best possible outcome for patients afflicted with stroke, cerebrovascular and skull base diseases.

This team has always treated me as with respect and made me feel valued. Dr. Fraser shows genuine interest in my concerns and allows me the patience to express my needs ( as does his entire team). His team has also gone above and beyond when I have called the office with questions.

No suggestions to improve this system. It was the best it could be. I did not feel rushing or left hanging with questions!

Both Dr. Fraser and Lindsey Parker provided our daughter with exceptional care. They carefully explained our options, the procedures and answered all of our questions. Our daughter may not be alive without Dr. Fraser and his staff. We could not have asked for a better experience.
